Founded by Mike Cowan in 2004, Cowan Construction has earned a reputation among clients, architects, and peers for consistent high quality, exceptional attention to detail, and unrivaled transparency and integrity. Project locations range from Portland, Oregon, to the Yamhill County wine country and luxury residential areas throughout the Willamette Valley.  

As the sole owner, Mike is committed to a high level of personal involvement with every project. To keep that commitment and to ensure the highest quality and most enjoyable homeowner experience possible, Mike limits the number of projects in progress to a maximum, usually three or fewer.  

Mike and his team of project managers, highly-skilled carpenters, craftsmen, and trade professionals have earned Cowan Construction praise from appreciative homeowners. Cowan also benefits from the confidence of Portland’s top architects and designers, who know that Cowan can build their best ideas into reality.

ABOUT MIKE

A born-and-raised Oregonian, Mike Cowan unlocked his passion for construction while attending Linfield College. After graduating Mike went to work for a large Portland builder. He moved up quickly through the ranks, from assistant superintendent to superintendent of a large planned neighborhood with 50 homes under construction at any given point in time.

After successfully completing several phases, Mike took a job as the owner's representative, overseeing the Evergreen Aviation Museum, which eventually led him to build the owner’s personal 25,000-square-foot home.

In 2004, Mike founded Cowan Construction. Starting with remodels in the Portland metro area, his projects grew in size, scope and complexity, including homes as large as 10,000 square feet. As the business grew, Mike hired highly trained superintendents to oversee daily operations. Mike now focuses his expertise on each Cowan Construction project, from the initial estimate to the final punch list.

After 25 years in the construction industry, Mike and his team are still having fun, enjoying the entire process of completing homes and remodels.

Mike lives outside of Portland with his wife have three children. He enjoys coaching his kids, watching his daughter dance and heading out on weekend family adventures.
